Artist AP, a 22-year-old music producer from Ypsilanti, MI. Growing up he listened to a lot of diverse music and played various instruments from the piano, tenor sax and trumpet. Around 2010, he was introduced to the program many people may have heard about called "FL Studio".
"The night I got the demo I didn't go to sleep until 4:30 in the morning. I haven't gone a week without opening my program since," said AP.
Around 2012, the same year he graduated from high school AP planned to start selling beats online the following January. He made his first sale two days after launching his page and has been selling them since.
In 2013, he had his first industry experience working with songwriters pursuing a publishing deal. An A&R at Roc Nation once acquired a song AP produced, giving credit to the hard work that was being put in. After spending a whole year doing hundreds of demo songs for popular artists, they never ended up landing a placement as expected. The experience was insightful but he didn't feel as though he had the creative control that he has now.
The following year, Picasso reached out to him about working which ended up being the creation of "Peace & Herb". AP felt that was his chance to have creative control and the response from seeing people watch Picasso perform with a band was reassurance that his sound was something to trust, explore and continue to develop. His goal is to produce amazing music with dope artists, travel around the world, and be happy.
